6 weeks old

Hailey has been doing great even the doctors are impressed. She has been gaining weight like a champ she currently weighs 890 grams ( 1 lb. 15 oz.) She is still on high flow oxygen and her lungs are still progressing. We are just waiting for her lungs to fully develop and her to gain more weight but otherwise we haven't had any other complications God has defiantly blessed us.

5 weeks

So not a lot has happened this week, which is good. She is off the cpap mask and is now just on a high flow oxygen tube. Her feedings have been moved up to 5 ml per hour. They are also supplementing her food with a protein powder and fat to help her gain weight. She weighs 1 lb 10 oz now. slowly but surely we are making progress. It is nice to be able to see her beautiful face uncovered.

4 weeks

Well yet another exciting week for Hailey, we almost lost her the other day due to the oscillator tube not being in her correctly and there for was not helping her breathe. So they had to put another tube down her throat to correct it. Then the tube was too deep and was only inflating the right lung. They eventually placed the tube correctly and she stabilized. They also started her on a nebulizer treatments which have helped her keep her lungs open. On Monday afternoon the doctors decided to take Hailey off the oscillator and put her on CPAP. She had a rough Tuesday morning but we are hopeful that she will continue to progress. This morning they started her on steroids to help develop her lungs and she is fighting the pneumonia pretty well. We hope it will be totally gone by the end of the week. Hailey weighs 1 lb. 8 oz. and counting were so proud she is getting some meat on her bones.

3 weeks old

Well a lot has happened in a week. Hailey is still hanging around 500 grams which is a good thing. She has now been moved to continuous feedings which will be done every hour instead of every few hours. Unfortunately she has a staff infection and pneumonia. They had to put her on a different ventilator so they could open her lungs more to help with the pneumonia. They also have had her on multiple antibiotics to help get rid of the staff infection and the pneumonia. please everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers. thanks

2 weeks old

Hailey is two weeks old wow how time flies. She is now 490 grams which 454 is one pound. She is still doing great. She had to go back up on her ventilator in order to gain weight so she didn't have to work so hard. The nurses have started to not bother her nearly as much because of how well she is doing and it will be better for gaining weight. She may have an infection now so they started her on some antibiotics. But over all she is still doing well. Megan and I have been able to do more hands on with her. Which entails changing her diaper, taking her temperature, and feeding her. We are planning on buying her stocking for her first Christmas this weekend. The doctors keep saying how impressed they are with her with how well she is doing. She has proved that she is a fighter, which may give us problems when she is older.

one week old

It has been one hell of a week so far. Hailey is doing great. She has been slowly weaned off of her ventilator. She is still on it but she is down to 15 breaths per min of the machine breathing for her. She started at 40. She has had 2 blood transfusions because she can not produce enough blood for herself due to her being so small and premature. Also since the doctors and nurses have to take her blood in order to check on her health we are being are own enemies with that. She has started to open her eyes and hold our fingers when we touch her. Megan and I both have been able to change her diaper. It is a weird experience due to her being so small and we feel like we are going to break her. She has also started to be fed Megan's breast milk. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers and we would appreciate it if everyone would continue. This is a first of many posts and we will be posting pictures and video.
